Nursery

Well the nursery is as done as it can be for now. There are a few more items that we are waiting on, like 2 collapsible storage cubes from Ikea that are currently out of stock as well as a diaper depot to attach to the change table to put the wipes/wipes warmer on, but other than that it's complete. The room is small and the nursery is modest but we both really like it and are very pleased with how it turned out. Now we wait for the occupant to arrive!

Looking in from the door (straight and to the left).

'Dresser' is our Ikea headboard/shelf set. It doesn't fit in our bedroom but it works perfectly for the nursery as a dresser. And those are the collapsible cubes that we're waiting on 2 more of. Cubes and lamp are also from Ikea.

I made these little 'signs' so we'd know what sizes are where on the shelves.

Custom made wall quote above the crib - it's a line from the book I've been reading to the baby (which is on the shelf).

Baby has to share it's closet with me.

Professional maternity photos

On May 3 we had professional maternity photos done with Cousins Photography. They were something I knew I wanted but wasn't sure if they were in the budget. Luckily the prices and work of the photographer recommended to me were both awesome! And the weather that day was beautiful; leading up to the day of our photo shoot it was calling for rain (which isn't surprising in Newfoundland) however it ended up being sunny and 10°C. We are extremely happy with the photos and now is the hard part; picking which photos to have printed. There are 12 4x6's and an 8x10 collage included in our package. After that we need to decide what, and if, we want additionally printed. 182 photos were taken so this is difficult. Here are some of my favourites:

The belly

It seems I've been slacking not only in posting in general but posting belly photos. So here are ones from the past month:

32w2d on April 17, 2010.

33w on April 22, 2010.

34w on April 29, 2010.

35w1d on May 7, 2010.

Also, here's a video of belly movement at 33w3d. The baby is very camera shy and I've tried numerous times to capture movement on camera. This is the best I've been able to get even though the baby moves most of the time.

I'm such a slacker

My Toronto shower was over a month ago, and my 1st St. John's (well technically CBS) shower was just under a month ago and I haven't posted about either of them yet. I blame it on being busy, stressed, and tired. And if I could blame it on being sore I'd do that too cuz man, am I ever sore. So no more excuses, here goes:

Toronto baby shower
March 27, 2010

I had an absolutely wonderful time at this baby shower. My sister Danna, along with my sister-in-law Alex, organized and hosted the shower. We played my favourite baby shower game (how big is mommy's belly?), ate incredibly yummy food, and socialized with most of my friends and family. And Baby Bean was spoiled! We got so much stuff I had to ship some to myself in St. John's as well as return some in Toronto and rebuy it in St. John's. This little one is already so loved. I cannot even begin to thank everyone involved and all those that attended and showed their love. It was great to see everyone and have everyone share this experience with me. Unfortunately Baby Bean did not cooperate and kick and move for everyone, even though I ate quite a bit of chocolate!

The mandatory ribbon hat.

My niece, Maya, and me. She's letting Baby Bean borrow her Sleep Sheep (given to her by Nana BJ so it's very special).

Delicious cake.

Yum...food.

St. John's/CBS baby shower
April 6, 2010

I have made a few friends in St. John's thanks to an online forum I frequent. And even though we've only known eachother for a short time, they are amongst the sweetest, most caring people ever, and wonderful friends. What I thought was a girls get together was actually a surprise baby shower!!! I was shocked; I had absolutely no idea they had been planning this. Unfortunately not everyone was able to make it but regardless of how small our group was, I had a great time! Great food, fun conversation, and difficult shower games - what else could I ask for? And although my family isn't here they reminded me that I'm not alone. Thanks ladies, you certainly make me feel less homesick.

Hanging out (notice the empty food dishes? That's how you know it was good).

Hair decoration.

Everyone loves a baby bump.

I've been informed that my co-workers are planning a shower and I promise to post about that less than a month after it happens.

Posts to come - work baby shower, nursery (almost done), pro maternity photos (had done today), weekly belly progression photos, pregnancy updates and complaints (expect more of the latter), my birthday (30 years old - yikes!), our wedding anniversary (4 years and still going strong), and baby's arrival (the most exciting post of them all!!!).
